I AM TOO MUCH. 🍒
I am too loud.
I’m too much.
There.
That was easy.
No healing journey.
No emotional breakthrough.
No inspirational quote against a sunset.
I’ve simply had 60 years to get used to myself.
And apparently, I like the result.
I like beautiful things.
I wear Dior.
I wear Chanel.
I wear Armani.
I like vintage.
I like retro.
I wear enormous rings, clothes that occasionally enter the room before I do, and trainers with absolutely everything.
And yes, I own the yellow Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66.
Uma Thurman wore them in Kill Bill.
I wear mine to buy coffee.
We all have our battles.
I like tattoos.
I like rebels.
I like unusual.
Normal has always made me slightly suspicious.
But I do have limits.
For example, holes in earlobes large enough to qualify for their own postcode.
Especially the sort capable of providing affordable housing to several small insects.
That’s not edgy.
That’s an ecosystem.
I like intelligent men.
Not men who perform intelligence.
There is a difference.
Read a book. Read the news. Know what’s happening in the world.
Have an opinion about politics, preferably one you didn’t acquire from a meme fifteen minutes ago.
Be curious.
Have friends. Go somewhere. Dance badly.
Sit in a ridiculous bar until two in the morning discussing something completely unnecessary.
Have some bloody interest in being alive.
And if you happen to look like Johnny Depp, do make sure you’re Johnny Depp.
Meanwhile, being single isn’t an emergency.
It isn’t even particularly interesting.
I’m busy.
I have friends I adore.
I work.
I travel.
I go out.
I stay in.
I meet people.
I laugh much too loudly, frequently at inappropriate moments and occasionally in places where laughter should probably require written permission.
Some people I meet are fascinating.
Others remind me why I enjoy going home.
Both provide a valuable service.
And then I go home.
To my house.
My music.
My clothes.
My dog.
My remote control.
My peace.
Nobody needs to complete me.
For God’s sake, there’s already quite enough of me.
Anyone wanting to enter my life has a considerably more difficult assignment:
You have to be more interesting than my freedom.
And freedom is currently performing extremely well.
So yes.
I’m too loud.
I’m too much.
I’m opinionated.
I’m overdressed.
I’m occasionally inappropriate.
I spend unreasonable amounts of money on things I could technically live without.
I have absolutely no intention of becoming easier to digest.
And if you don’t like me?
Fuck off.
See?
Still no healing journey required.
